Spreading My Wings Again!
Ah, it feels so good
to be useful again! It's been six years since I could no longer work and I'm
feeling a little testy because of it. I have so much to give and very few
places to give it.
Okay, onto business.
The beads and supplies I used to make jewelry back then have sat idle for these
long years and it has pained me to see them not being used. My husband and I
discussed it and decided to sell them on Etsy, and start a seed bead shop/store
that could grow slowly over the next few years until he retires. Then,
concentrate on expanding it into a larger business to keep him busy.
This meant I had to
educate him on beads, findings and jewelry. It's funny to see him sitting at my
old jewelry desk measuring out 11's into 5 gm packs to list on the store. He
also had to learn Etsy, which was no big deal since he works in IT.
I have to stop at this
point and tell you what started this entire process. I saw an ad for Peyote Fan
Earrings on Facebook. Once a week I go for coffee with ladies from our town. I
mentioned the earrings at coffee and a few of the women expressed an interest
in making them. So, I ordered the beads and line, then had them come over when
I was having a good day. We had a blast!
I found out the
pattern for the earrings came from a daily craft blog: http://craftyinspirationbylinda.blogspot.com
I have made most of
the jewelry featured on her site, and she has even featured the Oh, My Star!
Bracelet I designed, done in two different color schemes, which I greatly
appreciated: http://craftyinspirationbylinda.blogspot.com/2018/03/oh-my-stars-bracelet-in-two-colorways.html
My husband saw how
happy it has made me to handle beads again and asked me what I was planning to
do with all the jewelry supplies in my jewelry-making area. This is when the
idea for a shop was born.www.onestopseedbeadshop.com
